Glorious Home Call

Tribute to our Sage HRH Oba Olujana of Ijana Ilesha. He hailed from ODOLE ARIYASUNLE Chieftancy of Ilesha.

Honorable Isaac Omokayode Olaleye Ajayi. (,a.k.a I.O.K Sawoloorun), a reknowed accountant, educationist, social activist & politician, – was the eldest son of Pa Michael Folowosele Ajayi Sawoloorun who in turn was one of the senior children of Ajayi Babalawo Oromu Olojude Anworan popularly known as Babalawo Oromu through out the length and breadth of Ijeshaland.

The Honorable had his early education at Saint John’s Anglican Primary School, Igbo-Elerin in Lagelu Local Government Ibadan in the early 1940s. Later he finished his primary school education at Jehovah Nissin African Church School Araromi (Aragan) Ilesha. He had his Secondary school education at Ilesha Grammar School which is the oldest Grammar School in Ijeshaland between 1953-1957. He had his first work experience at the Federal School of Forestry Ibadan. He left for the United Kingdom in 1961, settling down in Edinburgh, Scotland. He moved to Huddersfield in Yorkshire from Scotland to pursue his Accountancy professional studies .He finally qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1975 when he moved back to Nigeria to set up his practice at Ikeja.

While in Edinburgh Scotland I joined him and his family in 1964. His two senior daughters were born in Scotland.

Honorable Sawoloorun was very active in the Nigerian Students Unionism while in Scotland, an interest which never left him. Back in Nigeria he developed his political interest that led him to win a seat in Osun State House of Assembly representing Ilesha West constituency in the PDP government twelve years ago. He was at the head of Finance Ways and Means Committee of the Osun State House of Assembly. He only served a four year term.

Honorable Sawoloorun had a successful Accountancy practice and a successful property business. He had an insatiable hunger for quality education. At such he made sure he invested heavily on his children’s education, even until he was called home by God.
At the summit of his professional Career and pursuit he was;

  • Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Of Nigeria – FCA
  • Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Taxation Of Nigeria (ICTN – FCIT)
  • Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM) – FNIM

He was not all work and no play. As his extra- curricular activities was a hunter and a sharp shooter. He also loved Football. Few years ago he was knighted by Jehovah Nissin African Church as a senior Elder of the church.
To the glory of God Sawoloorun gave his life to Jesus about a month before he was called home. We believe he is now resting on the bosom of his creator.
